The word Pambazuka is used in Swahili to describe dawning of the first hint of light at sunrise. Pambazuka Africa is helping God’s precious children with disabilities to see a future made brighter by the light of Christ. Our mission is to provide financial, practical, and spiritual support in the areas of healthcare, rehabilitation, and education to people with disabilities and their families in East Africa.
Meet our team ...
Pambazuka Africa was
founded as a non-profit organization in 2010 by Rebecca Busch and Alex
Mnyangabe, after they spent time in the preceding years working with
many people with disabilities in the Karatu area of Tanzania.
We are also blessed to have Esther Muthoni as our project consultant Pambazuka Africa's other board members also have experience with those with special needs.
Rebecca Busch, Pambazuka Africa Co-Founder and Director, is a pediatric rehabilitation nurse from Minnesota, USA with a passion for helping those with disabilities to find their potentials for independence. Pambazuka benefits from her nursing knowledge specific to those with special needs, and her organizational and leadership skills.
Alex Mnyangabe, Pambazuka Africa Co-Founder and Director, provides a wealth of knowledge and cultural expertise, and a passion for helping his fellow Tanzanians in need. As a safari tour leader, Alex has become well known and respected in the rural communities, and Pambazuka benefits from his networking and leadership skills.
Ally Nzomkunda, Pambazuka Genreal Operations Manager, lives and works in our office in Mto Wa Mbu, Tanzania. Pambazuka benefits from his organizational and computer skills, and his compassion for those in need.
